This artisan silk scarf is by Josephee Kakee. He was an Inuit visual artist who was born in 1911 and died in 1977. He did paintings and sculptures depicting Inuit life in the north. The image on this scarf features a row of four Inuit people wearing green, brown and black outfits, to include green shoes accented with black. The background colour is a soft pink salmon colour. It measures 30″ square. The artist’s name is on one corner. The hem is hand rolled and stitched. There is a label to indicate it is silk 100% and Made in Italy.
