Description
This gorgeous dress features a delightful, light hearted print, and wide, full sweeping skirt, with a matching printed hood. It has a metal side zipper and a single covered button at the front neckline. The waist is slightly gathered with a drop and another slight gathering at the hip level. The colourful print skirt has a full circle sweep. The label is near the bottom indicating that it is Imported I. Magnin & Co. My initial impression is that this dress is from the forties, but there is so much fabric in the skirt, that it is quite possibly from the thirties. It is an estimated size 4. It measures sleeve length 8″ bust 34″ waist 26″ and length 54″. The sleeves and shoulders are small. The sleeve opening is just 8″ for the upper arm.
I. Magnin & Co. was an upscale department store in San Francisco. In the early to mid 1900’s they imported dresses that were made by famous French designers. After the war, they expanded and had clothing made in the US. They were ultimately bought out by Macy’s.
