Most of us know the Canadian history of the Hudson’s Bay Company. In addition to fur trading, they imported some glamorous hats and clothing. This straw hat with the rhinestone leaf above the brim, is a fine example of a Hudson’s Bay import. The top of the hat is wrapped in silk organza. The two leaves are rimmed with prong set rhinestones, all intact. And the centre of the leaves are beaded with elongated mother of pearl beads, It measures 6″ x 7 1/4″. The condition is very good.
