Description
This small Norwegian sterling silver pin measures 1″. It came from one of Canada’s first war brides Elinor Thun, who came over on one of the Red Cross boats during the war. When her husband came to Canada after the war, she said she hardly recognized him. They had met at a dance in London, and a week later he slid a note under her door, asking her to marry him. She agreed, because everyone during that time frame wanted someone to hold onto and look forward to seeing again. They never knew if they would live another week, so they were not as cautious when it came to marrying. Within another week, he went to fight in the war. So it is no wonder he was a stranger to her when he came to Canada after the war. She said the war had changed him too, so that was also a factor. This pin is marked Norway Sterling 925S.
