Description

Intricately carved mid-century sterling silver Mexican scene depicting a man leading a donkey, with cactus plants on each end. The carved scene is surrounded by inlaid turquoise, which in turn, is surrounded by a darker blue stone, likely lapis lazuli. There are four carved and inlaid panels on the bracelet, that are hinged together. It is signed with initials JC and marked with an eagle, as well as hallmark 925 Sterling. The eagle has a number 1 inside, which indicates it was made in Mexico City. The eagle symbol was used from 1948 until the early seventies. After that, the T followed by the artist’s initials, was incorporated and stamped onto Taxco jewelery. Therefore, this bracelet was made between the late fifties and early seventies. It measures 7 1/2″ when flat.
